So long March!!

As we say farwell to March we start to realize that we are quickly approaching the last part of the year. I am still in need of several baby pictures for the slideshow. The sooner those come in the better. Also, just a reminder that trip money is due on Friday April 4.

Upcoming dates:
Trip - June 5
Grad - June 19

Grad pictures have been taken and we now await the return of the proofs. Those who ordered composites will receive them at the end of June. Everyone looked wonderful!!

We began a Geometry Unit today where we will study the properties of angles to try and solve for missing angle values.  In language the students continue to work on their independent reading programs and they are finishing up their Media/Oral Presentations that will begin on Thursday. Encourage them to practice at home whenever possible. History continues with the Development of Western Canada.

Welcome Back

Well last week was certainly interesting. Here's hoping the weather is better this week.

January 14 ( Tues.) is Shadow Day at Amherst. We will be walking to the high school around 9:30. The students will move around the school in a group checking out all there's to know about Grade 9 life. Students will be eating lunch in the cafeteria that day. Please be sure to dress appropriately for the weather.

In literacy we have started literature circles. All the students have selected the book they'd like to read and have formed their groups.

Ratio and Rate is the topic we will be covering in Math for the next couple of weeks. We will also take a look at many real-life math topics such as dicounts (my favourite), sales tax (not really my favourite), commission and interest.

We will be finishing our cell unit in January and continuing with Geography. Another topic we will cover this week is Healthy Food Choices. This is a great topic to start conversations at home.

Don't forget that Friday January 17th is a PA Day.
